There are many reasons why a business needs a website. Some companies may already have a website but feel their website does not live up to their company brand or full potential or is simply poorly designed. If you are in the position where your business has no website then hopefully by the time you are done reading this article, you might be a little more convinced.
Reason 1 – Websites offer around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week advertising.
I cannot think of any other form of advertising that will allow your business to be noticed and seen for any longer amount of time. Your local newspaper will run ads for X amount of newspapers on any given day, and then it is over.
Reason 2 – You are opening up a demographic that you were never reaching before.
When you have a website, the world is your playground. So you might be a local based business who only serves local customers, but maybe the option down the road could be to start selling online, shipping worldwide. As you gain more and more exposure, the need for services and products increases its simple logic.
Reason 3 – If you do not already have a website, I’m sure your competition does.
In the 90’s we exchanged phone numbers. Today we exchange email addresses and find each other on facebook, twitter or linkedIn. If people are going to the web before using the phone, how much business do you think you’ve lost already? People want to find out as much as they can about the business they don’t know about or they want to call for services. People want to be discrete and looking up information on the internet is non-intrusive and safe. How many times have you gone to Google and look for a business online before you contacted them?
Reason 4 – Websites will educate your customers.
Because of the previous reason, having a website will cut down on the nonsense calls or time your employees or yourself spends on the phone answering questions that could have been much easier to answer if there was a website to answer the questions for themselves.
Reason 5 – Company Branding and Increased Credibility
It will brand your business, bring you more “with the times” and give you credibility. Your logo, your colours, your message is very important and putting it online will not only reinforce the branding on your vehicles or storefront, but will give you an online presence that your competition may not already have. A mom and pop shop can look like a multi-million dollar business without ever having a storefront or a large warehouse. For some, a website is a necessity, everyone else it is just a matter of convincing.
